Lot Essay

The Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque was the last great architectural work of the Emperor Shah Jahan, and the largest mosque in India. The Emperor and his male retinue would travel there for midday prayers each Friday from the nearby fort. The building is finished in red sandstone and white marble and is entered through one of three separate gateways.
