Each cut out in the shape of a figure, one depicting a maid holding a broom, the other depicting a lady in a red dress and an embroidered long jacket, the reverse supports with later lead weights, some later back blocks and supports, distressed

Lot Essay

This pair of figures, one finely dressed and her working companion, symbolise Vanity and Industry and relate to a pair wearing costume of the mid-17th Century, formerly at Sutton Park, Kent and illustrated in C. Graham's Dummy Boards and Chimney Boards, Aylesbury, 1988, p. 13.
