An Album of Drawings including nine sketches recording a Journey to Bogota, Colombia, in March 1842 with Views on the Magdalena River, at Angostura, and of the Residence of Mr Wills near Villetta in New Granada

The artist was M.P. for North Berwick and a Treasury Minister before being appointed Her Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Bogota in 1842 where he resided on the Calle Reale 1842-3, returning to England in January 1844. The artist may have been a relation of John Steuart, whose Bogota in 1836-7; being a narrative of an expedition to the capital of New-Grenada, and a residence there of eleven months was published in New York in 1838.
