Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family and occurs in a variety of shades of blue and green to a clear and bright quality (cf. Bob C.Stevens, The Collector's Book of Snuff Bottles, nos.641-644 & 653).

This bottle compares favourably with bottle no.72 in H.Moss, V.Graham & K.B.Tsang, The Art of the Chinese Snuff Bottle, The J & J Collection, vol.1, p.137
