The white enamel annular Roman dial with blued moon hands and ormolu rope-twist bezel, the gilt guilloché dial centre with subsidiary enamel seconds ring below XII, blue and white enamel rolling moonphase above within similar bezel and calibrated for its age 1 to 29½, subsidiary calendar rings below for the day (with its sign), date and month, the inverted Y-shaped pierced movement frame with large diameter twin going barrels, countwheel hour strike on bell on the backplate, the going train with pin-wheel escapement regulated by a gridiron pendulum above with adjustable crutchpiece and fronted by a thermometer with white enamel scale inscribed Elementa Suis Propriis Armis Victa, the whole frame mounted on a stepped rectangular Spanish brocatelle marble base with rope-twist banding and on brass bun feet, the movement frame on brass blocks with milled levelling knobs; original velvet-lined base and original glass dome
