A RARE FRENCH ORMOLU AND EBONISED PORTICO CLOCK WITH ELECTRIC REMONTOIRE

The circular dial with moulded gilt bezel, silvered chapter ring with appplied blued steel Arabic chapters and high quality blued steel moon hands, the open dial centre displaying the deadbeat escapement with jewelled 'scape and fourth wheels, the rest of the train in screwed châtons, the circular spotted plates with four double-screwed pillars, tiny spring barrel mounted to the centre wheel also holding a steel pin which on an hours revolution activates the remontoire by means of an electric cam switch to the right side of the plates, the power to the spring driven indirectly via a worm-and-wheel system linked to a central steel vertical rod with central linkage having two hinged steel arms with counter-balanced balls to balance the arbor on its rotation, the complicated motor below with twin four-armed wheels with silver wire rims and jewelled pivot holes running against a silver wire brush cage with eight prongs, the movement suspended from two ormolu pillars with threaded finials and on chamfered ormolu base, ebonised wood plinth with electric contacts at the back and glass dome
