The silvered dial signed and numbered VICTOR KULLBERG MAKER TO THE ADMIRALTY, THE INDIAN & ITALIAN GOVERNMENTS 105 Liverpool Rd. London N 9090 and with the Government Mark, Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down dials, blued steel hands, top-plate with the Government Mark and numbered 9090, reversed fusee, Earnshaw escapement, cut bimetallic balance with Kullberg later form of auxiliary, palladium helical balance spring, Kullberg reversed spring detent with jewelled locking stone, brass bowl, gimballed in plain three-tier mahogany box, ivorine plaque to front of middle section inscribed V. KULLBERG TWO DAYS 9060 and with the Government Mark,, recessed flush brass handles

Lot Essay

This chronometer was purchased by the Royal Observatory, Greenwhich in July 1917, after which it was held between various dates at the Admiralty Chart and Chronometer Depots at Hong Kong (1917-1921), Portsmouth (1923), Malta (1927), Plymouth (1929-1933) and Malta (1934).
