With typical frosted gilt movement with bridgecock, top plate inscribed Construite par Louis Berthoud No. 2594, free sprung blued steel helical spiral with four arm bimetallic balance, each sector with shaped heat compensation weight and incorporating mean time screw, barrel bridge with four supporting pillars, chain fusee movement with pivoted detent escapement repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant, the white enamel dial signed Ls Berthoud. Horloger de la Marine, with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, Breguet blued steel hour and minute hands, the edge of the dial-plate inscribed No. 2594. Construite par Louis Berthoud, signed on the reverse by the dial maker Droz, in plain consular case numbered 1229 with casemaker's mark JLJ for Jean-Louis Joly, surmounted by a dove in diamond surround, movement and dial signed
