TWO SATSUMA DISHES
The first signed Kyoryu Shozan, the second Kaizan sei, late 19th Century
The first decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt with two rectangular panels depicting ladies with children, peony and sparrows among profusion of chrysanthemum flowerheads; and a smaller dish similarly decorated with figures in front of a temple, children playing games and masks divided by a gilt band of geometric patterns and chrysanthemum flowerheads
