The first signed Satsuma yaki, Hozan sei, 19th Century
The lozenge shaped body decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt with children at leisure, leaf-shaped panels depicting figures playing, a shaped panel and a fan shaped panel depicting warriors, the cover pierced and decorated with chidori and wave design, (damaged); and a hexagonal koro decorated with Shichifukujin and their attributes, the upper side with takaramono with a finial of karako, tripod feet and chrysanthemum shaped handles,
