Note: Correspondence from the Mission in the early days was taken to Cape Town by native runners or traders and others going that way and was there delivered to the Rev. John Philip, the London Missionary Society's representative, who arranged with the Cape Post Office for its onward transmission.
Rogers Edwards, the writer of the letter, was a missionary artisan, and contemporary of Robert Moffat and David Livingstone.
