cover 1807 (13 November) long entire letter from Sir Home Popham in London, placed privately on board the ship "Crocodile" and landed at the Cape on 20th February 1808, receiving a light strike of the oval-framed "SHIP LETTER/crown/CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" (a very early use), manuscript "Ship Post Pd 6sk" at top of address panel. Clean fold through handstamp, some wear at corners and edges but still attractive, interesting content with references to the Buenos Ayres and Copenhagen Expeditions. A typed transcript is included
