Note: An account of the above is included on page 55 of E.C.W. Stagg's book "Sudan - The Stamps and Postal Stationery 1867 to 1970"; the Crane had apparently been bred and brought up on an estate in Southern Russia, and from where it had made it's 2000 mile jouney
