Lot Essay

The artist joined His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, aboard the Royal yacht Brittania on its return from the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. Seago remained with Brittania until its docking at Gibralter two months later. This painting is another version of one of about sixty paintings which were painted, all of which were given to the Duke of Edinburgh.
