DAVID AND GOLIATH, miniature cut from an ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT PSALTER ON VELLUM

100 x 68mm. David, in a blue tunic, is about to cut off the head of the smitten Goliath with his sword. The latter, carrying a club with spikes, wearing a tunic and hose of blue and crimson, with gold decoration and a lion-faced breastplate. In the background there is a tent of green and crimson. The composition, in a landscape setting, is within an architectural surround. (Some rubbing to the face of Goliath.)
