4° (278 x 208mm). 96 leaves, containing 8 full-page and 525 smaller coats of arms, all fully emblazoned in gold and colours. (Occasional light soiling, portions of some of the large armorials partly cut out and replaced). A few text leaves explaining the art of blazoning and an index of names, comprehensive details of the holder against each coat of arms. The final armorial is of Henry Norris, Lord Norris (1525-1601). (Text occasionally cropped). 19th-century brown morocco gilt.

With an interesting provenance: Sir Peter Manwood (c.1565-1625) antiquary and apparently the first owner, he has signed his name a number of times, dated 1582; Henry Bull, 1587, signed his name with three Latin mottoes on the fly-leaf; Edward Taylor, signed his name a number of times throughout the volume, dated 1682-85; George Lord Macartney (1737-1806) with his bookplate; rebound in 1878 by Stephen Tucker, explaining that the original binding had Manwood's name; sold 22 May 1978 (lot 387) with the library of Fowberry Tower, Chatton, Northumberland.
