Various sizes of Hebrew and Roman type, printer's woodcut device, woodcut initials. FINE CONTEMPORARY PARISIAN GOLD-TOOLED BINDING of flexible vellum, large arabesque centre-and corner-pieces blocked on sides (gilt slightly faded), a hatched tool repeated four times around the central compartment, the field semé with triple dots, flat spine tooled in compartment, gilt and elaborately gauffered edges, gothic manuscript vellum spine-lining, (ties removed). Provenance: Les-Feuillans, reformed Cistercians (two inscriptions, one dated 1593).

In the 1560's the Turkish centre-and-corner design was the height of fashion in Paris for binding decoration. VERY FINE CONDITION.
