2° (450 x 380mm). Engraved title and 16 plates of frescoes and ceilings by J.H.Frezza after Albanus, 5 double-page, all on guards. (One view of a ceiling trimmed and mounted, some light spotting.) Early 19th-century russia by C. Kalthoeber, with his ticket, the covers elaborately tooled with a series of greek-key pattern and floral roll-tool borders, with central octagonal panel enclosing a sêmé of stylised flower-heads, spine in seven compartments, raised bands (neatly rebacked with spine laid down with neat restorations to head and foot), g.e. Provenance: Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-92, title signed and small ownership stamp); William Beckford (1759-1844, pencilled number on front free endpaper); Frank Linsly James (armorial bookplate dated 1881).
