Together 3 works in 5 volumes, 48° in 8s (79 x 45mm). Uniformly bound in light brown calf gilt, covers with single fillet borders, spines in five compartments with raised bands, dark red morocco lettering-piece in the second compartment, the others with an overall repeat pattern made up of small tools, marbled endpapers and edges, green silk markers, all contained within a single contemporary dark blue morocco pull-off box modelled as a book, titled 'Classici Italiani' on the "spine". Provenance: Roberto Almagia (bookplates).

A very fine set of Pickering's Italian Diamond classics in a presentation box. Pickering started publishing the Diamond Classics series in 1820 as a way of publicising his new shop in Lincoln's Inn Fields. The series continued until 1831 and came to be seen as a "typographical tour-de-force" (Keynes. Wiliam Pickering Publisher).
