etching with touches of drypoint, 1635, first state (of two), before the re-working of the shadow in the foreground, a very good impression, with an indistinct watermark, trimmed on or just inside the platemark (affecting the stray strokes extending outside the borderline in some places), some pen and ink lines on the sole of the shoe at the right, a small repair at the upper left corner, a small waterstain at the upper left corner, a very soft horizontal crease visible on the reverse, other minor defects
