lithograph printed in sanguine, 1893, on simili-Japan, third (final) state, signed in pencil, a fine and fresh impression of this extremely rare state without text (Adriani and Wittrock knew of only four impressions in this state, two printed in olive-green and two in sanguine; there was also an edition of 100 in olive-green or black with text in the second state), the edges of the lithographic stone distinct, with margins, a very soft crease at the upper right sheet corner, generally in very good condition

Lot Essay

The lithograph represents Marcelle Lender with Albert Brasseur at the Théâtre des Variétés. Two of the preparatory sketches for the lithograph, made in red chalk, are presently in private collections (Dortu D.3.326 and D.3.327)
