Sir Denis Mahon and Nicholas Turner both confirmed the attribution and dated the drawing to the early 1640s.
The refined handling of the chalk is comparable with that of a drawing of God the Father at Windsor, which is for the Annunciation of the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan datable to 1638-9, D. Mahon and N.
