Lot Essay

Professor Angulo related the present drawing to Giordano's Deposition in the Santa Cruz Museum at Toledo, Spain, Ferrari and Scavizzi, op. cit., A. 122, fig. 198. The picture, previously attributed to Ribera, is dated 1659 by comparison with the Crucifixion of Saint Peter in the Academia, Venice.
