The technique, also freer, is similar to that of a drawing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, J. Bean and L. Turcic, 15th-18th Century French Drawings, New York, 1986, no. 199, illustrated. The free aspect of this drawing is comparable to that of a drawing by Moreau, sold in these Rooms, 4 July 1972, lot 129, illustrated, which was for a print published in 1761.
