An Attic black glazed West Slope ware balsamarion
Late 4th-early 3rd Century B.C.
With spread bevelled lip, two 'handles' (thin loops of clay pressed against the shoulder throughout their length) and a spread foot, two grooves around shoulder filled except below handles with pale buff, pale buff colour for decoration lying between grooves
A: Berried wreath
B: Square panel of nine squares between two square panels, to the left filled with diagonal cross-hatching to the right with a cross having each triangular section filled with lines, row of fine dots above, (intact save minor chip to lip and foot)
