A Roman amber twisted glass rod
1st-2nd Century A.D.
The finial in the form of a bird, a ring at the other end, 6¾in. (17.3cm.) long; a similar green twisted rod; and another, pale blue, each terminating in a ring and a circular pad finial (green finial chipped), 8 1/8in. (20.5cm.) and 7in. (17.9cm.) long; a fine aubergine twisted glass scoop with tapering handle, 8in. (20.5cm.) long; an aubergine glass 'nail', 4¾in. (12.2cm.) long; a translucent glass twisted spatula, the other end with tapering point, 8 3/8in. (21.1cm.) long, all 1st-2nd Century A.D.; and an Achaemenid bronze pin with a petalled finial, threaded with an iridescent glass bead, circa 5th Century B.C., 3¼in. (8.4cm.) long (7)
