Each with padded back, arms and seat covered in pale-green silk damask decorated with urns of flowers, fruit and garlands, the gadrooned and channelled oval backs on fluted and lappeted supports, the out-curved scrolled arms with downswept channelled supports carved with acanthus, the bow-fronted curved seat with lappeted and beaded rails, on fluted turned tapering legs headed by paterae, one stamped L.DELANOIS, with leather label to the underside inscribed in ink 993, variations in carving, regilt, restorations (2)

Lot Essay

Louis Delanois, maître in 1761.

A closely related pair of fauteuils was sold from the collection of Baron Eugène de Rothschild in these Rooms, 27 June 1974, lot 50. While two further pairs, one grey-painted, were sold anonymously in these Rooms, 7 December 1989, lot 84 and 90.
