A beautiful cabinet picture in Ostade's best style. The strong light coming in at the window has a striking effect, and catches on the various figures in the happiest manner. The characters and attitudes of the principal group are very expressive, and the attention of the Hostess to her reckoning is visibly marked in her countenance. Bought of Mr. De la Hante'.
