Lot Essay

The work of the Master of Montefloscoli (or Ristonchi) was first isolated by Richard Offner in 1933 around a polyptych in the church of Santa Maria at Montefloscoli, and a Madonna and Child with six Saints at Ristonchi near Florence. Another Madonna and Child with six Saints is at Avignon (M. Laclotte and E. Mognetti, Avignon musée du Petit Palais, Peinture italienne, Paris, 1987, p. 150,
no. 146, illustrated).
