Moulded rising from a high-backed chair, holding his cat, splashed in brown, green and black clothes, a moulded shield at his side, on a green-washed square base (back of hat lacking, slight chips to front)

Lot Essay

This rare jug probably represents Dick Whittington but is based on a 'Tithe Pig Parson' original. A similar example was sold at Sotheby's, 17 May 1989, lot 402.
