Lot Essay

The form of the entree dishes and covers is similar to those made for Harriet, Duchess of St. Albans (1777-1837) by Paul Storr in 1817, sold from the estate of Eal C. Adams at Christie's New York, 17 April 1996, lot 112. Similar stands to those offered here accompany the more elaborate entree dishes from the Sutton Service. Made by Philip Rundell in 1819 and 1820, they were exhibited at Christie's, The Glory of the Goldsmith, 1990, no. 146, and are in the Al-Tajir Collection.
