Ovoid, and on three scroll and hoof feet with facetted curved spout and hinged domed cover and stud finial, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms within shell, foliate-scroll and strapwork cartouche, the cover engraved with a crest, marked on body and cover, the base engraved with the scratch weight 9=4
4¾in. (12.2cm.) high
gross 9ozs. (297grs.)

The arms are those of Kelsol quartering another impaling Yates

A group of three similar hot milk jugs, from the collection of The late Hilmar Reksten, were sold in these rooms, 22 May 1991, lots 103-105. A silver-gilt coffee service engraved with the arnms of King George II, with similar coffee jug and hot milk jug, is in the Untermyer Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Art, illustrated in Y. Hackenbroch, English Silver and other Silver in the Untermyer Collection, New York, 1969, no. 139
