Lot Essay

William Earle of West Derby, Lancashire, was the youngest son of John Earle (d. 1751), Mayor of Liverpool in 1709, and his wife Mary (d. 1751) only child and heiress of Ralph Finch, of Chester. He married Ann (d. 1785), daughter of Thomas Hesken and widow of John Winstanly - by whom he had two sons Thomas (d.1822) and William (d. 1839) and other issue. Thomas was Mayor of Liverpool in 1787.
