A CARVED OAK CHAIR

LATE 19TH CENTURY

Each arm formed as an axe, the backrest and front legs formed as a yoke and carved with floral motifs and the Russian adage: 'The slower you tread, the farther you get', the splat in the form of reins, a pair of mittens resting on the shaped seat decorated with a floral roundel with pierced apron, the front legs re-inforced with stylised tassels, the back leg formed as a branch with bifurcated foot.
