The 25/30hp Rolls-Royce was introduced at the 1936 Motor Show and featured a larger 4.2 litre engine than the previous model. Other improvements included cam and roller steering and adjustable shock absorbers now operated from the dashboard. The cars had a top speed of about 80mph depending on which coachwork they carried. Windovers supplied a variety of handsome bodies for mounting on Rolls-Royce chassis and were one of the most well-established coachbuilders even before the days of the motor car.

This well proportioned Windovers Sports Saloon, Chassis No. GMP44, was commissioned in 1937 and supplied first to F.E. Blythe Esq of The Abbey, Gerrards Cross. The chassis records show further ownership changes through the 1940s and up to February 1954, after which the history is not recorded until 1969/70 when the present owner purchased the car whilst he was a student! It has been subsequently enjoyed and regularly serviced by the main Rolls-Royce agents in Rome where the owner lives. Soon after purchasing the car it was professionally repainted and is finished in white with a blue coachline. Rather unusually, the interior has red suede leather seats with black carpeting. We are told that the body is strong, with well fitting doors, and that the engine displays good oil pressure. The radiator was overhauled two years ago and there are many invoices for service work in its present ownership. One of the features of this sports saloon is that it was fitted originally with a division, allowing rear passengers that extra degree of privacy. The owner has a set of new tyres for the car which would be available by separate negotiation - please do ask at the Christie's office about this.
