The first Marmon was built and tested in 1902 by Howard C. Marmon, a master engineer. They were advanced cars in their period and in these early days featured air cooled V4 engines with mechanically operated overhead valves and pressure lubrication. Marmons did well in competition, achieving 54 first places between 1909 and 1912, Harroun winning the first ever Indianapolis 500 in 1911 with a specially built six cylinder car, named "the Wasp". Production continued into the '20s , with six cylinder overhead valve models featuring coil ignition and front wheel brakes after 1923.

1927 saw the first straight eight engined model introduced, with the option of a cheaper sidevalve engine or a higher performance overhead valve unit. This overhead valve engine had a capacity of 3.1 litres and was available with a number of body styles, from a four door saloon to an open five seat tourer, as on offer today. The 1930 model featured an increased engine capacity of 3,300cc.

This particular Marmon is finished in red with black wings and brown leather interior. The condition is commensurate with an older restoration and the car has been dry stored in recent years, so a careful re-commissioning prior to use is advised.

The car is in free circulation within the EC and is sold Without Reserve.
