Lot Essay

This is another view from the top of the fort with the river Son below (compare lot 10).

'From the elevation of the hill... the country below to the east and south was visible for many miles, and nothing could exceed the beauty of the prospect. The distant plains lay extended before the eye, bounded by the bright blue horizon, glowing under the vivid beams of an ardent sun, and exhibiting all the varying hues of an abundant cultivation (The Oriental Annual, 1835, pp.212-3).
