Since they devoted two finished watercolours to it, the Daniells evidently thought this temple merited close attention, although it is in fact a fairly typical example in the North Indian or nagara temple tradition. Partly because of the dominance of Islam in the north, but also because of the itinerary they followed, the Daniells saw and drew comparatively few Hindu temples until they reached the south of the subcontinent in 1792.
