Lot Essay

These baying hounds and spaniels beneath acanthus-scrolled stems with candlebranches, combine the Louis XV-revival style with sporting hounds, such as appear on the silver designed by Edmund Cotterill (d. 1860) in the middle of the 19th Century for Messrs. Garrard.
