A Meissen (K.P.M.) chinoiserie oval sugar-box and cover
Circa 1723-4, blue K P.M. above crossed swords mark and gilder's 18. to base and cover
Painted by P.E. Schindler with Orientals seated on furniture and planting a tree and playing with a cockerel among flowering shrubs, mythical birds and beasts and insects beneath a band of gilt interlocking C-scrolls, the cover with an Oriental family with a basket of fruit and a bowl of lemons standing beside a fence and shrubs within a Böttger lustre panelled, gilt and iron-red scroll quatrefoil cartouche (slight chip to inside rim of base, minute rubbing to gilt rim of cover)
