A Meissen chinoiserie baluster coffee-pot and cover
Circa 1725, gilder's 6.E. to both pieces
With short spout and S-scroll handle, painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt with Orientals beneath a palm-tree and vases of flowers on a fenced terrace and smoking and taking tea before flowers on a pedestal within Böttger lustre gilt scroll quatrefoil cartouches flanked by indianische Blumen and scattered insects, the border with interlocking C-scrolls, the domed cover with Orientals taking tea and with mythical beasts between broad gilt band rims (slight flake to top rim, repair to tip of spout and above top terminal of handle)
