Provenance
The above item was retrieved from the Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas, a Spanish treasure ship that foundered in the Bahamas Channel in 1656 on its way back from the New World ladened with treasure. Cf. Christie's 3 October, 1990, lots 378-404
