Shaped oval and on four grotesque animal and elephant's head feet, chased overall with scrolling foliage, grotesque animals, female caryatids and strapwork on a matted ground, applied at each end with the figure of a warrior, one clasping a pike, the centre chased with a portrait medallion in circular caryatid cartouche and a similar cartouche chased with the arms of France impaling another, the hinged domed cover similarly chased and applied with four scroll brackets, the top chased with a grotesque mask supported by two lions, marked on base
