Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the horseman riding on a rearing blue horse and wearing a mauve coat and elaborate purple-grey turban leans from the saddle to attack the lion, who is leaping out from a clump of grass, with his sword, some wrinkling and creasing, slight retouched flaking, brown margin with red rule, mounted on a page from a manuscript with coloured panels of gold scrolling vine on gold sprinkled leaf, various coloured margins, mounted in a border of bold palmette and leafy vine, mounted, framed and glazed
