Lot Essay

Charles Stuart, 12th Baron Blantyre, was born in 1818. He married in 1843 Evelyn, second daughter of the 2nd Duke of Sutherland. They had three daughters, Mary (see lot 110), Ellen and Evelyn and a son, Walter, who died unmarried in 1895. On the death of Charles in 1900, the title became extinct.
