Robert Walter Stuart, 11th Baron Blantyre, was born in 1777. He served in Holland, 1799, in Egypt, 1801, in Pomerania and Zealand, 1807, and in the Peninsula, 1809. He was killed by a stray bullet at the insurrection in Brussels, in 1830. He married Fanny Mary, second daughter of the Hon. John Rodney, in 1813, the year the present miniature was painted.
