Sir Christopher Hatton (1540-1591), Lord Chancellor. It was his dancing that attracted Queen Elizabeth's attention and by 1564 he had been appointed one of her gentlemen-pensioners. He became Captain of the Queen's Guard in 1572, vice-Chamberlain in 1578 and High-steward of Cambridge University in 1588 and served as Lord Chancellor 1587-91.
