Lot Essay

These stools, in the French antique manner, derive from a ram-headed pattern in Thomas Hope's, Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1807, pl.29. A related eagle-headed Grecian sofa from Bretton Park, Yorkshire was sold by members of the Beaumont Family, in these Rooms, 5 July 1990, lot 35.
