The writing-table, with inlay of husk-enriched tablets and ribboned borders and accompanying trellis-backed bookshelves with eagle trusses, relates to a 'commode' bonheur-du-jour sold anonymously in these Rooms, 26 June 1986, lot 124. Phillips in The Connoisseur, June 1977, while its inlay relates to that of a library table pattern of 1804 published in George Smith's Collection of Designs for Household and Interior Decoration, London, 1808, pl.86.
