A REGENCY BRASS-INLAID AND ORMOLU-MOUNTED ROSEWOOD PIANO STOOL
The circular revolving adjustable padded-seat covered in light-brown repp, the frieze with scrolling foliage, on four baluster tapering splayed legs with gadrooned capitals joined by an X-shaped baluster stretcher with cental roundel, the underside of the seat and top of the central support grained

Lot Essay

Thomas King published a design for three musical chairs, with related revolving circular seats in his Supplementary plates to the work entitled The Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, 1834 (illustrated in The Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, Woodbridge, 1977, p. 270).
A similar revolving piano stool with splayed legs was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 8 February 1990, lot 62.
